She was discovered by actor Norma Shearer Leigh secured a contract with MGM and began her film career in the early 1940s. Leigh appeared in a variety of popular film productions over the course of the decade which included Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) as well as Living It Up (a Martin and Lewis-film released in 1954).
